                    Lumia 430 Review

The Ultra cheap lumia 430 priced at $70 is a sweet deal for those who are in need of a windows powered budget phone.  So should you buy it?

Design

Design wise lumia 430 is comfortable to hold and use with one hand. However the phone is a tad too thick (10.6mm) than similarly priced phones I have used. The screen size is 4 inches so it’s not too big or too small but reading manga is a pain and watching movies is not recommended as the screen resolution is only 800*600. But browsing the internet for usual reading is a breeze thanks to the reading mode in internet explorer. The lumia is equipped with a polycarbonate back cover, while it does not give a premium look and feel the phone is very strong (Trust me I have dropped it in some painful scenarios and it severely outscores the Samsung core prime which one of my friends dropped accidently and broke a piece of the cover. Seriously it wasn’t even a 1 meter high drop). The display is powered with capacitive multi point touch which is a very good thing but no gorilla glass so wet hands is a big no go. The speakers on the phone is very loud and clear but the clearness clearly disappears when cranked up to top volume otherwise good. I was also able to obtain a good bass by messing with equalizer.

Performance

The phone consists of Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 series dual core 1.2 GHz processor. It also consists of 1GB of RAM and 8GB of memory. Surprisingly the MicroSD can support up to 128GB. So as you imagine with specs this decent and running windows 8.1 the phone has a very fluid and fast performance (except when switching apps an annoying resuming screen appears). The gaming performance when playing Asphalt 8 the phone performed wonderfully, however Shadow Fight 2 lag while playing with high graphics but that was easily fixed by switching to low graphics. Furthermore the battery saver function improved performance by shutting down background unwanted apps (Extremely convenient actually to be able to do it from the action center).

Camera

The one area that this phone severely lacks is the camera front. So don’t expect a good camera because it is lumia. The back camera is 2MP while the front is 0.3MP. Also the fixed focus is big letdown as it can’t fully utilize the power of Lumia Camera App.

Battery Life

Another field this phone lacks is the battery life of it. A full charge can barely take you through the day. So yeah the 1500 mAh battery sucks.

Conclusion

While being extremely budget friendly the phone is only recommended for those who don’t need a good camera. Lumia 535 is a way better bargain for just little more and even better Lumia 550 for cool features like glance screen and windows 10 out of box.
