Android N feature and Rumors
It has only been a few months since the release of
Marshmallow and the developer preview for the next android version has already
been released. It is code named Android N (No name yet decided but many are
rooting for Android Nutella, the all famous chocolate spread we all love)
Marshmallow was a success and had many amazing features like Doze mode.
Unsurprisingly Android N is even a bigger improvement and contains all kind of
feature we love. So here is a list of all the features of Android N.
Multi Window Support
Yes my friends stock android is finally getting it, the all
mighty productivity weapon the multi window. Yes, it was present in the Samsung
S3 and many phones but it was never featured in stock android so in my opinion
this will be the biggest addition in Android N. The multi window needs the
support of developers so the feature is only working fine on few app without
looking horrible. The multi window mode is accessed by long pressing the recent
apps button and the mode features the ability to customize the size of each
screen.
Redesigned Notifications and Quick Action Bar
Android
N makes a small but significant improvement in notifications by removing the
space among notifications to show more info. The action bar also features Quick
toggle (A welcome back addition from older android versions). Android N also
features the ability to reply to notification without leaving the app you are
using.
The action will contain
5 quick action buttons and drop down button to view the list of quick actions.
Improved Doze Mode
The new doze mode will instantly activate a scaled down
version of Doze mode when the screen is off to save more battery life and when
the device is left without using for longer period it will go into a doze mode
that is enhanced than the one in Marshmallow. This feature will improve the
battery of devices significantly so you could say that this feature will be
loved by everyone.
New Data Feature
Fellow readers on a tight data allowance here is
the feature that we all have been waiting for. This new feature will stop apps
from syncing until connected to wifi and you can also white list apps that you
need to sync.
New Settings App
The settings app has been improved with much
needed features. The app will now feature information about the setting. For
example you will see the wifi network you are connected from the Wireless and
Networks button. The app also feature a swipe in Hamburger menu that display
the root settings. So if you have gone deep in to sub settings you can go into
the menu setting quickly.
Night Mode
The night mode has come back after being taken
down in Android Marshmallow preview. The new night mode also features the
ability to control blue level in the screen to help you sleep after looking at
the screen. The feature might even get location based night mode like in iOS
9.3.
App Drawer
There is a rumor
that the app drawer will get removed, but the current preview version still has
it but could be removed in the future.
Change Display Size
This feature will allow the user to change the
size of the icons to a size they like by using a slider. This feature is mainly
targeted for visually impaired people.
Better Tablet Support
Android N will most likely support tablets as most
apps in tablets are blown up phone apps.
Java API will be Replace with OpenJDK
After the
disagreement with Oracle google will switch to an open source library of Java
to write better API.
Emergency Information Will be Featured on the Lock Screen
Your
name, address, birthday, blood type and etc. will be shown in lock screen in
case you face an accident.
Recent Apps Button
Recent App
button when pressed one will go to the traditional opened app list, when
pressed twice will cycle between the currently using app and the last used app
and when long pressed will go in Multi Window mode. Also when in opened app list
you can cycle through apps by tapping the recent apps button
Improved Smart Lock for Passwords
This
feature will allow you to seamlessly manage the password of your apps in all
your devices.
Android Beta Programme
You will be able
to download android Previews in over the air updates without having the need to
flash custom rom.
